Palmerbet Review April 2025

For us Kiwis, Australian betting sites have their charm and flaws. We can easily find our favourite sports markets, but the platform usually does not accept NZD payments. 

In my journey of reviewing NZ betting sites, I knew I would come across Palmerbet at some point. While my review of this platform will mostly be from a general, objective point of view, I will also be comparing it with PlayUp, which is another Australian-owned platform available for punters in New Zealand.

Without further ado, let’s get into my Palmerbet review.

Palmerbet, an entirely Australian-owned and operated bookmaker, has maintained its independence in a market where I have seen many local operators get absorbed by international conglomerates. 

Founded in 2013, Palmerbet is definitely not one of the new betting sites with questionable tendencies. Instead, it has stood the test of time in Australia's highly competitive market. 

Rooted in a strong family legacy, Palmerbet was founded by Grant, Matthew, and Adrian Palmer, the grandsons of veteran bookmaker Ted Palmer, who was well-known in the Australian and international betting scenes. 

Since its launch in 2013, Palmerbet has tried to stay true to its mission of providing modern punters with better odds and higher limits. Whether or not it has been successful at that will be discussed in my Palmerbet review. 

Palmerbet is one of the many legal betting sites I have reviewed so far. Here’s everything you need to know about the bookmaker’s legality and safety based on my Palmerbet review.

Palmerbet Cons

• Live betting requires phone calls: Palmerbet provides live betting, but given that foreign platforms let live bets go straight through their applications or websites, the fact that you must call in to place live bets feels out of date.
• Limited withdrawal methods: Palmerbet only offers credit card and bank transfers as withdrawal options. Hence, their choices are rather limited. Should you be using a non-Australian bank, you will also be required to give more information, which could delay the procedure.
• No live chat support: Live chat is a common tool I generally rely on for fast help. Given platforms like PlayUp, which provide 24/7 chat service, Palmerbet's lack of a live chat feature is frustrating.

Verdict

Palmerbet is a good option for Kiwi bettors who mostly concentrate on racing. Its large racing markets, handy speedmaps, and form manuals make it a top competitor in this field. Particularly for those who like mobile betting, the simplicity of the software and responsive design also contributes to its general appeal.

For some, though, the lack of NZD support and the antiquated live betting system could be negatives. Additionally, the limited withdrawal methods and absence of live chat support could be frustrating for users looking for a more streamlined experience.

Palmerbet NZ is a complete betting tool with good odds. Particularly as a Kiwi bettor, you will find fantastic value if you are ready to work around the little inconveniences, especially in racing and sports betting.

Although many bettors are used to seeing ostentatious sign-up incentives, Australian laws forbid Palmerbet from running such offers to fresh customers. This implies that, particularly if you live in New Zealand, you will not discover a Palmerbet sign up bonus on the platform if you want to start your betting adventure.  

Palmerbet still offers a lot of daily and seasonal promotions for current clients, though, so once you register, the experience is well worth it. Using the platform, I could not find any Palmerbet bonus code.

For those of us living in New Zealand, whilst Australian rules could make it annoying not to see deals upfront, once you join Palmerbet, the daily offer range is definitely something to investigate.

Regarding usability, the Palmerbet app does a lot right with its straightforward, neat design that makes navigating easy. Palmerbet app download is free and simple using the App Store or Google Play Store regardless of your device—Android or iOS.

Like their website, the betting apps keep things simple to use by having a clean design. Though generally, the software is responsive and user-friendly, I did find that locating specialty prop bets or unusual markets can be a little more difficult. 

Features and Performance

The Palmerbet app brings fast load times and a range of features right at your fingertips. I found cash-out options and same-game multis to be easily accessible, which is a huge plus for anyone who likes to stay in control of their bets. Adding leagues to your favourites section is another feature I appreciated, making it quicker to access the markets you bet on regularly.

While I think the live betting interface could use some improvements, Palmerbet still offers detailed tips, predictions, and even speedmaps for racing, making it a well-rounded option for punters. On the downside, the app doesn’t offer live chat or streaming, but the Australian-based support team is still helpful if you need assistance.

Pros and Cons

One standout feature is the app’s fast withdrawal processing, something I value when I’m ready to collect my winnings. Plus, the app offers a great range of markets across 30+ sports, from racing to top leagues like the Palmerbet AFL and NRL. However, the verification process felt a bit clunky, and I’d love to see some updates in the way markets are added or updated, as there can sometimes be delays.

Palmerbet's app makes enjoying great-value betting simple despite certain flaws. For anyone looking for quick and straightforward access to betting markets, this is a great app regardless of the basic design or feature range. Just be sure to do the verification early on to prevent any delays when it comes time to take out your gains.

Palmerbet offers a strong betting experience with distinctive features that set it apart, especially for racing lovers and bettors who value a large spectrum of markets.

Racing

When it comes to racing, Palmerbet truly excels. 

Similar to PlayUp, it offers top-tier fixed odds, but Palmerbet goes even further with a wide variety of betting options. You’ll find everything from Win/Place to exotics like Quinellas, Trifectas, and Same Race Multis. One of the features that really impressed me is the inclusion of predictors, speedmaps, and early speed indicators, helping you make more informed decisions for each race.

Much like PlayUp’s detailed race data, Palmerbet offers comprehensive form guides and runner comments, with tips and previews available on their blog. This is a great addition, giving punters all the tools they need to place smarter bets. Palmerbet handles somewhat fewer international races, concentrating primarily on Australian and New Zealand events, while PlayUp offers thorough coverage for international racing. 

Palmerbet is obviously on its way, and is a great contender for one of the best horse racing betting sites available for Kiwis. 

Sports Betting

Palmerbet provides hundreds of leagues from over thirty sports. 

For the top leagues—including AFL, NRL, EPL, NBA, and NFL—you will find a range of markets. Palmerbet's $1.95 lines stand out as more reasonably priced than many rivals, including PlayUp's regular lines. Palmerbet has a minor edge for value-driven punters this way.

Palmerbet also offers original individual and team specials, which are fantastic for people seeking something different from regular bets. Live betting is accessible like PlayUp, but due to Australian laws, you will have to call in to place live bets. When compared to the international football betting sites I typically visit, this is a little inconvenient.

Cash Out

Palmerbet lets you lock in earnings or cut losses before your bets pay out via a cash-out feature. 

This Palmerbet cash out tool proved helpful, particularly in cases when a match wasn't going as predicted. PlayUp also has this capability, but Palmerbet is somewhat more flexible since it pays cash for a larger spectrum of events. 

Same Game and Same Race Multis

Palmerbet offers multi-betting features, and its Same Game and Same Race Multis provide a distinct edge for punters. 

You can combine multiple outcomes from the same race or match into one larger bet, increasing your potential payout. I found Palmerbet’s multis to be slightly more expansive than its competitors, particularly for Australian racing events.

Blog and Tips

Palmerbet excels in one area: daily blog with racing advice, forecasts, and runner comments. The Palmerbet blog is a terrific tool for individuals wishing to dig more into the form and analysis before making bets, therefore enhancing the whole betting experience.  

One of Palmerbet’s standout qualities is the extensive range of betting markets available across both sports and racing. 

Whether you're focused on domestic leagues or international events, Palmerbet has you covered. They have a broad selection, similar to what you’d find on PlayUp, but with a few unique touches that make it stand out, especially for racing enthusiasts.

Sports Betting Markets

Palmerbet provides about 100 markets for individual events spanning major leagues, including the AFL, NRL, NBA, and NFL, out of over 30 different sports. 

Though it might not cover as many niche sports as some platforms, the diversity is more than ample for most bettors; the choices here are strong. I found their $1.95 lines for select events particularly appealing, offering a bit of extra value compared to some competitors, including PlayUp.

When it comes to player and team props, futures, and special markets like time, corners, and penalties, Palmerbet doesn’t disappoint. They provide the necessary depth for anyone looking to explore more than just the standard win/lose outcomes. 

While PlayUp also offers an impressive selection, Palmerbet's slight edge in unique betting markets, such as mystery bets and doubles, adds an extra layer of fun and flexibility.

Racing Markets

Palmerbet’s racing markets are where it truly shines, especially compared to PlayUp. With over 60 years of experience, Palmerbet provides an impressive selection of both standard and exotic bets like Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, and even same-race multis. 

This depth of racing options, including full-form guides, early speed indicators, and detailed runner comments, is a huge plus for punters looking to make more informed bets.

I found Palmerbet’s additional features like speedmaps and the ability to request custom futures bets for certain races to be a real differentiator. If racing is your primary focus, Palmerbet offers one of the most comprehensive markets out there, covering both Australian and New Zealand races, as well as select international events.

Novelty and Entertainment Markets

Palmerbet also offers a nice selection of novelty markets, something that’s becoming more popular across betting platforms. From reality TV to award shows and entertainment bets, Palmerbet ensures there’s something for everyone, even beyond traditional sports and racing. 

In my honest opinion, Palmerbet does not offer a lot of betting payment options. Also, similar to PlayUp, the platform only accepts AUD. This means Kiwi players won’t have the luxury of betting with NZD. 

Deposit Methods

When it comes to deposit methods, Palmerbet NZ offers more than five options, which I appreciate. I also was happy to see PayPal as a valid deposit method.

I deposited $10 via my card, and it instantly reached my account. Overall, I barely have anything negative to say about the deposit except for the NZD to AUD conversion. 

Withdrawal Methods

Palmerbet’s withdrawal section is where things get a bit disappointing. Firstly, they don’t allow any other withdrawal methods except for the following:

• Bank Transfer
• Credit Card

Using a non-Australian bank account, I first had to contact Palmerbet using my SWIFT code, bank country, bank name, bank city, account name, and withdrawal amount to get my money. The money arrived in my account more than two days later.

Live Chat

Palmerbet does not have a live chat, which is a bummer.  For me, the quick responses and readily available help via live chat make it more preferred than email. 

Thankfully, Palmerbet NZ provides an alternative to live chat through their direct call lines for support and live betting. If you have been following my reviews, you know that most betting platforms do not have a dedicated phone number for Kiwis.

Palmerbet does not have a casino – only a sportsbook. 

Having dug into Palmerbet, it is obvious that this platform has a strong basis, especially for racing enthusiasts. 

Palmerbet provides a local option, although I, along with many other Kiwi gamblers, usually gravitate toward worldwide betting behemoths like Betway and Bet365. Its racing markets are among the best I’ve seen, with detailed features like speedmaps and form guides that genuinely add value for informed bettors.

That said, the lack of an NZD payment option is a bit of a hassle, and like with PlayUp, having to call for live betting feels outdated in today’s digital world. It’s not the most modern solution, but it’s one that, as a Kiwi bettor, I’ve come to expect from Australian platforms. 

Still, Palmerbet's strong odds, particularly the $1.95 lines, keep me coming back, especially when I’m looking for good value on AFL or NRL.
